Vintage French St. Clément Cockatoo Pitcher

Vintage French St. Clément Cockatoo Pitcher

Found at market just outside of Paris, we were delighted with this charming Cockatoo pitcher from the potters at St. Clément.

The Saint Clément pottery was founded in 1758 in the village of the same name, located in the Lorraine region of northeast France. Producing classic French faïence, the firm became known for its majolica pitchers in the form of animals. Beginning in the 1920s production also consisted of tableware and household items of fine earthenware, in addition to their whimsical animal pitchers.

Crafted in the famed St. Clément works, this Vintage Cockatoo Pitcher is marked on the creamy underside. Beautifully hand-glazed with rich colors, it is an exceptional pitcher from one of France's most historic potters.
