Vintage Yellow Cabbage Plate
With its cheerful color and artful imitation of life, this vintage yellow cabbage plate is a delightful example of Portuguese majolica-style earthenware.
Produced by SECLA (Sociedade de Exportação e Cerâmica, S.A.), founded in 1947 in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal, the plate reflects the region’s rich ceramic heritage. Caldas da Rainha has long been one of Portugal’s most important pottery centers, and SECLA became especially well known in the mid-20th century for its expressive, richly glazed earthenware created for both the domestic market and export abroad.
Echoing the form of a cabbage leaf, its dimensional veining is brought to life beneath a glossy yellow glaze—a sunny variation on the classic green cabbage ware so beloved by collectors. Both decorative and practical, it layers beautifully into a garden-inspired table and adds a bright note of European charm wherever it rests.
Strictly limited quantities and subject to prior sale. (At listing, a total of 10 plates were available.) Plates sold individually, select total number of desired plates in the drop-down menu. In very good vintage condition. 6.75"D.
